Conditions of Booking, arrivals etc

To confirm a booking we require a deposit. The deposit is approximately 1 nights accommodation for The Calgary Hotel or £100 for The Carthouse Lofts. Deposits can be paid by cheque payable to The Calgary Hotel or by Credit/ Debit card by telephone.

Cancellation Policy

If a reservation is cancelled or shortened within 1 week of the arrival date, the deposit will be retained. We will only return the deposit if we manage to re-let the room or loft for the entire duration booked.  If we are given plenty notice of cancellation, at least 1 month prior to arrival we will try & re let the room or loft and hopefully be able to transfer the deposit to a new date or refund the amount less 10% administration charge.  We recommend taking out travel insurance in any case. 

If you have chosen to stay in The Carthouse Lofts and wish to eat in The Dovecote Restaurant please ring in advance of your stay or at time of booking, as a table is not always guaranteed to non hotel guests.

It is always useful for us to know what time you will be arriving. Rooms are generally ready by 1pm. If you plan to arrive at the Hotel after 6pm please telephone ahead and let us know.

Hotel Smoking Policy

The Calgary Hotel and The Carthouse Lofts are completely NON SMOKING.  Smoking is only permitted outside in the Courtyard or front patio areas; please ask for an ashtray.

Dogs

Well-behaved dogs are welcome in both the Hotel and Lofts. Dogs must not be allowed on the furniture or beds. Please ensure that you have treated your dog for fleas prior to arrival here. Owners must ensure that they clean up after their dogs. Dogs must not be left unattended in the Carthouse Lofts or Hotel bedrooms at any time. Dogs are not allowed in The Carthouse Gallery or Dovecote Restaurant.  We urge all dog owners to bring your own bedding or basket for your dog, a maximum of two dogs are allowed per room or per loft. Cost for dogs in Hotel room is £2.00 per night per dog or £10.00 per week in the Carthouse Lofts.

The Dovecote Restaurant

The Dovecote Restaurant is also open to non-residents; bookings are recommended but not always essential, please telephone ahead to avoid disappointment. The Restaurant offers A la carte choice, changing 3 times per week. We use local produce where possible, homegrown herbs, salads and vegetables in season. Isle of Mull Cheeses, Bread from The Island Bakery, and locally caught shellfish.  We also use Quality Assured Scottish Beef and lamb and Western Isles Organic Salmon.

Travelling to Calgary, Isle of Mull

The nearest airport is Glasgow. The nearest Train & Bus station is Oban. The ferries leave from either Oban, Lochaline or Kilchoan. There is a limited Local Bus service on the Isle of Mull which also includes Calgary.  For up to date timetables etc please contact:

Getting here

On arrival at Craignure or Fishnish ferry terminals, turn right onto the A849, towards Salen, 2 miles past Salen at Aros Bridge, turn left towards Dervaig, signposted for Calgary Art In Nature which is our Woodland Walk.  Once you arrive in Dervaig turn left over the bridge towards Calgary, it is sign posted.  The Calgary Hotel, Carthouse Lofts, The Carthouse Gallery & Calgary Art in Nature are about 4.5miles from Dervaig village. If you reach the white sands of Calgary Bay you've missed us!
