INTRODUCTION
We have nine properties on both sides of the main road to Calgary beach, some of which have slopes, steps and split levels in and around the properties. Limetree is opposite the main car-park and Café with additional parking for visitors. The main Visitor Car park is approached over a cattle grid with side pedestrian gate with a gravel surface.
PRE-ARRIVAL
- We have a website www.calgary.co.uk with more details on each property.
- Bookings and enquiries can be made via e-mail or phone.
- The local bus stops outside the Café on a regular basis with busses to Dervaig and Tobermory. There is a scheduled and request Community Bus, outside of these routes/times.
PARKING
Parking is available for all properties, although not necessarily adjoining each property. Parking for Limetree is as above. For Hayloft, Farmhouse, East/West Lofts and Cart Studio, parking is either in the front car park near the Laundry and Re-cycling area, or in the Visitor’s Car Park. Parking for The Byre and Dovecote is round the back of the Café near the woodland walk. Parking for Kittiwake is in the Visitor’s Car Park. The majority of these parking areas are with a shingle or cobble stone surface, with the remainder being packed earth.
The properties all have their names outside their doors and with manual outside lights. Limetree, Hayloft, Farmhouse, The Byre, Dovecote and Cart Studio all have ground floor entrances. East and West Loft are situated above the Café up a shared external staircase and front door. Each Loft then has its’ own front door inside the lobby.
Kittiwake is situated in the middle of the Sculpture Woodland along various sloping paths.
GARDENS/OUTSIDE SPACE
Limetree has a flat enclosed garden with lawn area and decking. Hayloft and Farmhouse both have enclosed gardens with level lawn and stone patio areas. The Byre and Dovecote both have a decked terrace together with sloping paths/steps to other terraced seating areas. East/West Lofts and Cart Studio have no individual outside space, but can use the outside Café tables and chairs once closed. Kittiwake has a decked terrace area with steps down to the toilet.
PROPERTY DETAILS
Apart from Cart Studio which is all ground floor, all the other properties have more than one floor including other levels or steps within some ground floors. This is due to the nature of the conversion from older buildings. Please see individual property details for bedroom and bathroom locations.
PUBLIC AREAS
The Café is in the courtyard opposite Hayloft and Farmhouse and under both Lofts, with outside tables and chairs in the courtyard. There are two entrances – one from the courtyard and one from the Visitor’s Car Park. This entrance also has the toilets and shower for Kittiwake, but there are steps down to the Café from this lobby area.
The Gallery at the rear of the Visitor’s Car Park has several entrances, all of which are on the ground floor. There is a step between the main Gallery and shop/Office and a flight of concrete stairs up to the top Gallery.
The Sculpture Woodland is at the rear of the Gallery with a path around the building. This is on the side of a steep hill with various sloping paths and steps up to the top.
There is a Re-Cycling area just next to the Laundry, together with a Compost area next to the Visitor’s Car Park.
